5 Tips to Build a Fab Jewelry Wardrobe

If you’re like me, you’ve probably said at some point in your life: “I’m not a jewelry person.” Fast forward to 2011, and you will find endless amounts of jewelry hanging from my kitchen chandelier!  Try at least one tip this season and you’ll be sure to receive a ton of compliments.

Tip #1:
Start with a classic hoop earring.
Just like classic trench coat and white button down, hoops never go out of style.

Tip #2:
Mix and Match
Rules are made to be broken. Don’t be afraid to layer multiple bracelets together for a chic, edgy look for day or night.  During the 2011 NYFW, we are seeing a ton of fashionistas sporting the look.

Tip #3:
Dare to wear a statement necklace.
Every woman needs to invest in at least one! It transforms a t-shirt and jean outfit instantly and makes a huge impact when paired with your fave LBD.

Tip #4:

Pick a seasonal trend.
For Fall 2011, we are seeing long pendants with amazing finishings.

Tip #5:

If all else fails, go for a customized charm or vintage piece from your mom.
I like initial charms that you can build as you go. Nothing is more sentimental and stylish then a piece your Mom used to wear.

Popular lipsticks test positive for lead – Would you still buy these?

“According to new product tests, 61 percent of the brand-name lipsticks tested contained detectable levels of lead, which can be toxic if ingested.”

“The top brands testing positive for lead included L’Oréal Colour Riche “True Red,” L’Oréal Colour Riche “Classic Wine,” Cover Girl Incredifull Lipcolor “Maximum Red” and Dior Addict “Positive Red.”

“The L’Oréal Group is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety for all the products it makes and sells. Each and every ingredient used in our products has been thoroughly reviewed and tested by our internal safety team,” the company said in an emailed statement. “

Model Watch: Chanel Iman

Chanel Iman. With a name like that, you are destined to be a fashion model. This 17-year-old from Southern California is the youngest girl to be featured on the cover of Vogue Magazine.  That is an amazing feat at any age.

The story is that Chanel innocently winked into the crowd at one of the fashion shows and it “happened” to be Anna Wintour whom she gazed towards. Anna then hails this young woman to be the next “it” girl in modeling and the rest is history. Aw, the powers of Anna!

I love seeing more women of color on the catwalks. Even though she is only a quarter Korean, it is nice to see some part of my heritage in mainstream media.

Bridesmaids’ Gift Bag

My bridesmaids have been pretty amazing throughout the months, so as a gift I have put together a little goodie bag—Oscar style. No, they’re not getting Rolexes, Blackberries or a car! I dressed it up using ribbon I bought at JoAnn Fabrics with fall’s hottest color: Fuschia.

Here are some things I put together:

Which famous designer teams up with Avon?

Cynthia Rowley has created a limited-edition cosmetic line for Avon’s Fall 2007 Color Collection available for everyone now!

The colors are a trifecta of cool plums, yummy pinks, and bubbly champagne. It reflects Cynthia’s trademark flirty, girly, and fun looks straight from this season’s runway looks.

One more reason to invite some friends over for cocktails and makeovers!

Chip and Pepper at JCPenney!

GO Designers at Target. Simply Vera at Kohl’s. Nicole Miller at JCPenney?

Can you remember when Mossimo started designing for Target way back when top designers were still trying to figure out how to mass market? “Career suicide” some speculated.

Then, Todd Oldham and Isaac Mizrahi followed suit and the world of fashion opened up to billions of soccer moms, students, and average folk at a fraction of the cost! Hallelujah! There is a God after all.

I just discovered that Chip and Pepper — yeah, that Chip and Pepper — has designed an affordable version of their premium jeans for JCPenney, sold in their juniors and men’s departments! They call it C7P.

I’m so glad the fashion world has finally recognized that we all want affordable, good clothing without having to go broke. It’s took them long enough, but now you can’t ever complain you can’t afford to look good. They have made it too easy for us! Happy shopping!

Fab Find for Mommy-To-Be: Bella Band

I believe there are so many ordinary people out there who invent extraordinary things.

Case in point would be the advent of Ingrid & Isabel’s “Bella Band”.

This god-send item helps to adjust clothing at all stages of pregnancy. In other words, you can still wear those fab Seven Jeans with one button undone with the help of this miraculous band! At the other end of the spectrum, if you have given birth and are in-between sizes, you can use the band to hold you up until you can fit yourself into your pre-pregnancy jeans.
